Harikishan S Nair is internationally recognised as a dance artist, teacher, choreographer and artist scholar skilled in three different styles of Indian classical dance – Bharathanatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohiniyattom.
Harikishan's journey in Dance commenced at the age of three under the tutelage of renowned Guru Smt.Girija Chandran, the disciple of Guru Padmasree Adayar K Lakshmanan and Suchendram M M Pillai, from whom he learned his Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattom. At the age of seven, he started his Kuchipudi training under the guidance of Guru Smt. Geetha Krishnakumar and later continued his training under Guru .Smt. Bijula who were the disciples of Guru Padmabhooshan Dr. Vempatti Chinna Sathyam. During the last few years, Harikishan has also had the privilege of interacting with extraordinary choreographers, teachers and senior artists.
Harikishan's performances have taken him across the globe. He tours with new choreographic works and conducts workshops. In addition to being an accomplished dancer, Harikishan is a gifted dance choreographer. He has received many accolades of national and international acclaim which recognize his excellence as a performer and choreographer.
Harikishan's immaculate and graceful movements and his subtle yet communicative expressions have won the admiration of laymen and connoisseurs alike.
His impressive stage presence and graceful movements have been appreciated by art critics. Notable performances include works with Dr. Padma Subramanyam, Madurai R Muralidharan, Dr. Menaka Thakkar, Uma Murali, Janak Khendry, Lata pada to name a few.
Harikishan has also been invited to judge dance competitions.
Harikishan is the Artistic Director of Regatta Kala Kendra dance company based in Toronto.
As a teacher, Harikishan devotes time and energy into developing a new generation of dancers who are dedicated to Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohiniyattom. He conducts classes in different locations across the GTA.
